My name is Stephanie Cox, Founder of What’s Your Impact.
I started What's Your Impact with a mission to catalyze positive change, champion sustainability, and ignite a global movement towards an eco-friendly world. I am fervently committed to empowering individuals to realize the profound impact their choices wield in shaping a sustainable future.
How It All Started
Fueled by an unwavering passion for sustainability, energy, and the environment, my journey began with the fundamental lessons instilled by my family - the importance of recycling and the joy of participating in inclusive Earth Day clean-up events. These early influences, coupled with a thirst for knowledge, led me to pursue a degree in Environmental Science, focused on Sustainability, Renewable Power Systems Engineering, and Atmospheric and Oceanic Chemistry from the University of Colorado at Boulder ('Sko Buffs!).
During my time at university, I wholeheartedly embraced my mission by actively engaging in organizations such as the CU Energy Club, the University's Environmental Center, and a Certificate Program centered around renewable energy and sustainability. My singular focus was to dissect the complexities of power generation, renewable technology, the presence of microplastics in our environment, and the intricate chemical makeup of consumer goods.
But what good is a wealth of knowledge without action?
My ‘Why’
This is more than just a journey for me; it is a calling. I am here to push the boundaries, to challenge the status quo, and to spearhead meaningful change. I aspire to forge a future where sustainability thrives, energy is harnessed responsibly, and the beauty of our environment is preserved for generations to come.
Over the past 12 years of developing my professional career, I've traversed the realms of the power generation industry. I have lent my expertise and played pivotal roles in propelling diverse renewable energy companies forward. From leading business development and sales for software controls and energy storage companies, to being part of a company that provides invaluable technical advisory services and strategic consulting, I’ve witnessed firsthand the positive trajectory of this vital sector.
But let it be known that my professional conquests, though significant, do not encapsulate the very essence of me. It’s what I do, it’s not who I am.
Beyond titles and ventures, lies a profound truth. Who I am transcends the realm of professions and accomplishments; it is the embodiment of passion, integrity, and a relentless pursuit to make a tangible difference. I am rooted in a purpose far greater than myself, and my ultimate quest is to leave an indelible mark on our world. My ambition knows no bounds as I strive to ignite transformative change through the power of language, innovative thinking, and resolute action.
To me, speaking my dreams into existence is just the beginning – it is when I translate those dreams into concrete plans on paper that the journey truly begins.
I am here to make a difference and to be a life force for change. I hope that my voice be a catalyst for change, my ideas kindle sparks of innovation, and my actions chart a course towards a greener, brighter future. Sustainability, in my view, extends beyond environmental practices to encompass a balanced life that cherishes the things we do. The disconcerting societal trends of overconsumption, waste, plastic pollution, and shortsighted actions keep me awake at night. I refuse to remain a passive observer as the world succumbs to conventional conveniences.
I do not intend to wield authority or impose judgments of what is right or wrong. My purpose is to ignite inspiration and provide a profound perspective, nurtured by the depths of my own experiences in the hopes that you consider your daily actions. With heartfelt sincerity, I invite you to contemplate a pivotal question: What’s your IMPACT?

Our Deepest Fear
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us.
We ask ourselves
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small
Does not serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine,
As children do.
We were born to make manifest
The glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us;
It's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we're liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.
-Marianne Williamson
Playing small does not serve the world because by dimming our light, we deny the world the brilliance of our unique talents and passions. So, let us boldly grant ourselves the permission to unleash our inner fire and let our passions radiate, igniting a brighter, more inspired world.
